How to play Blackjack? |
|
|
|
Blackjack is one of the most popular online casino table games. Some players call the game blackjack and some call it twenty-one. Besides being fast and exciting, when played with a proper strategy, it has a house edge of less than one percent. This is the lowest house advantage of any table game.
Blackjack is dealt on a special semi circle table. When you sit down you must buy chips from the dealer. After all bets are made the play begins. The dealer deals a card to each player, then one to themselves face-up. Then each player receives another card. After the cards are dealt the dealer will ask each player in turn to make their decision. The player to the left of the dealer acts first. This position is known as first base. The position of the last person to act is called third base. A rule of thumb for the beginner is to assume the dealer has a ten in the hole.
Blackjack is played with one, two, four, six or eight decks of cards. You will also find some casinos using continuous shuffling machine. In single and double deck games the dealer holds the cards and deals them out. In multi-deck games the cards are dealt out of a tray like box that is called a shoe
Players take it in turn to bet. If you make a total of 21 with the first two cards (a 10 or a face and an Ace), you win automatically. This is called 'Blackjack'. If you have Blackjack, you will win one and one-half times your bet unless the dealer also has Blackjack, in which case it is a Push or a Tie (or a Stand-off) and you get your bet back.

Learn Blackjack rules before playing
|
|
|
|
Blackjack is a relatively simple game to play. The game is played at an arc-shaped table with places for up to seven players on the outside. The dealer sits on the inside. The objective of the blackjack game is to accumulate cards with point totals as close to 21 without going over 21 and to beat the dealer. If your cards total higher than the dealer's cards without going over 21 you win.
a) Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are worth 10 points.
b) Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever is preferable.
c) Other cards are represented by their number.
If your hand or the dealer's hand goes over 21 you "Bust." If you bust you automatically lose. If the dealer busts and you do not you win. The player must be fast to act first. If the player busts he loses regardless if the dealer busts or not.
Players can have the following options
i) Sit: hold the cards that currently make up their hand
ii) Hit: get another card from the dealer to add to their hand
iii) Double: double the bet on their hand and receive one only extra card from the dealer
iv) Surrender: finish their hand before the end of the game and loose only half of their wager.
Players can Hit as many times as they want to until their hand reaches a total of 21. When the player is satisfied with their hand, they sit, and the game continues to the dealer. The dealer usually has a strict rule of when they must Hit and when they must Sit.
If the dealers hand totals higher then the players hand the player looses. If the dealers hand totals less then the player, the player wins. If ether hand is over 21, then that player busts and looses the game. If the player and the dealer both have the same value, the hand is considered a Push and the player's money is held for the next game. Player is dealt two cards as is the banker although one of the banker's cards is face down. The player has the option of receiving extra cards until he wants while the dealer has to hit until he reaches 17 or higher upon which he must stand.

Blackjack strategy to play better
|
|
|
|
Despite the simple nature of Blackjack, there is a sophisticated strategy to follow. One should consider a number of factors before making any decisions. For example: whether to hit or stand.
Consider your player position, as to what you have, what the other players have, what the dealer has and what the count is. Apart from that, one should have sound acumen when it comes to splitting, doubling and insurance. Played well, blackjack becomes a game of skill in a casino full of games of chance. After studying millions of computer-generated hand, it has been found that there is indeed a strategy for when to hit, when to stand, when to double, when to split.
This strategy can take the house edge down to about .5 percent in a six-deck game -- and lower in games with fewer decks. Needless to say, such single-deck games are not commonly dealt. Basic strategy takes advantage of the player's opportunity to look at one of the dealer's cards. Hence, you're not just blindly trying to come as close to 21 as possible. But by showing you one card, the dealer allows you to make an educated estimate of the eventual outcome and play your cards accordingly.
-If the dealer's up card is a 2 - 6, it is a "Stiff" hand for the dealer.
-If the dealer shows a 7 -Ace, you consider it a pat hand.
-If you have 17 or better it is a Pat hand and you stand
-If you have a stiff and the dealer has a stiff you STAND
-If you have a stiff and the dealer has a pat hand you HIT
This simple strategy will get you by for fist time you play the game, but one should make the effort to learn basic strategy. Blackjack can be the best game in the casino with the lowest house edge if you play properly, however if you play by hunch it can be one of the worst.
